Bouquet on Piano

Bouquet on Piano  9x12   Oils on canvas panel.

I saw this bouquet in a YouTube video and paused the video enough to make a sketch! I honestly don't remember the subject of the video; a comedian I think.  The sketch was something that the dogs growl at it's so bad. I put the sketch in the recycle box.

I know absolutely ZIP, ZERO, NADA about flowers but these looked pretty and that's enough for me. I'm garden-challenged and am not allowed to pull weeds in our gardens at home.

  1. Hi Ken!
I can see the "paradise bird" flowers, neat. The other ones look like calas. The whole scene makes me think of classic musical movies. I like how you've included the reflections on the piano, and your perspective is very well done. I like this little corner, feels cozy :)
    Best regards,

  3. Hi there Irina. As I said I don't know ANYTHING about gardening or flowers but these seemed pretty.

Shurok is a cool cat. Making pictures of him helps.

  4. Hello Carolina. Thank you for letting me know what kind of flowers I painted! :-)

I can't/don't garden & I can't play the piano. I suppose the only thing that I understand in the room is the painting on the wall!

  5. These flowers are absolutely great Ken! You don't have to be a gardener to appreciate flowers! And glad to see you blogging again. How's your leg???

  6. Hi Liz - I'm doing GREAT! Mornings are a little tough until my "motor" is warmed up enough that I can move around without looking like a pity party in process! :-)

I've been making "good starts" on a painting a day (almost) lately. After the initial rough-in, I put it aside for the paints to set up or dry a bit. Then I get back into it for details & cleaning up all of my mistakes.

    Thanks for asking

  7. You paused a video! Who'd a thunk! lol. It's great. They look like anthurium to me, but what's in a name. An anthurium by any other name would make as beautiful a subject.

  8. Hi LHolm! Knowing two Liz bloggers makes me dizzy! :-) So I'll use blog-names! As I said I don't remember the video; seems that many people send broadcast emails with videos attached and DUH I watch most of them. Glad that I watched this one. I wonder if the flowers are the inspiration for the national anthurium? (Did you make that name up?)

    Warm best wishes!!!
