Yet another day of being snowed in!

Our backyard - 10 inches of snow

One of our crowded bird feeders

Some places have almost 3 feet. This is Arkansas for cryin' out loud!  Cars are getting stuck on the roads and the snow plows can't do their work. The TV doom-sayers (news) are saying that this is the most snowfall ever recorded in Northwestern Arkansas!

February 2 - C O L D ! Red Wing Blackbirds in the trees

Four and twenty blackbirds . . .
These Red Wing Blackbirds (the black blobs in the trees) are in the trees in back of our property.  They're waiting (I guess) for their reservations at the bird feeders hanging from the pergola in the foreground. The temperature outside is 8F.

After I snapped this photo (from inside our kitchen!) all of those blackbirds took offf as one flock heading to the left of this photo - North.

Sort of reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Birds".

DC-3 taking off at dusk

$150.00 plus shipping

If interested, contact me at ken.barclay@yahoo.com

DC-3 taking off at dusk  14 x 24  Oils on panel

I had a piece of gessoed panel lying around that is 14 x 24 inches. Not many subjects work on a long rectangular format. When I saw a photo of a WWII C-47 I decided to make it a civilian DC-3.

I've been working on too  many people paintings so I've decided to make some paintings without people being the most obvious part of the painting.

I'm putting together a sole exhibit at the local library and when I laid out the paintings, almost all were paintings of people!  More on the exhibit later. I do the setup tomorrow (Monday January 17th 2011)

104 Pearl Street  11x14  Oils on masonite

This building is in my neighborshood. I recently noticed (duh) that the address is 104 Rose Street!

I think that this was once a church but is now a cabinet shop.  I added the people. :-)

Happy WARM Tuesday

Today we had temps in the low 70s F and almost all of the snow is gone!  Hoorah! I was busy making a 36"x36" canvas for my daughter's painting.  I cut up a 2x4 piece of lumber to make the stretchers. The idea is that I'll take the canvas off of the stretchers for mailing when the painting is finished, dry, varnished and etc. Sounds like a good idea - we'll see.

The last of the snow! That's the rain barrel that jumped out and kicked me in the leg for no reason! The barrell with 60 gallons of water frozen solid and it JUMPED and hit me! Amazing!  :-)

Me in the sizzling heat of 73 F making the 36x36 canvas. :-)

73 is hot when the temperature 2 days ago was freezing and 5+ inches of snow!

Good grief!  More photos in my Art Studio Blog.

(I was smiling - the photo just doesn't show it)  Really!

Having a snow morning!

Snowy Sunday March 21, 2010 morning!

That's my studio in the back yard. There is four (4) inches on the ground (roofs too, I suppose). I think that it's a safe bet that I won't be going to my little studio very soon today!  :-)

Melissa's vegetable garden in the back yard. We almost put some onion sets in the ground but decided to wait until after Easter.

Looking south down the street in front of our house. Very pretty to look at.  The snow has covered the street since I took this photo earlier this morning.  I had to use my "snow shovel" to grope for the morning paper in our driveway. FOUND IT!  And thanks to the carrier delivery person, it was completely dry!
