Baseball - Pitchers -Eddie

Baseball - Pitchers -Eddie
16 x 20  Oils on canvas panel

I have some more baseball paintings that I want to do. These paintings will depict the catchers doing catcher things - whatever that means to me at the time.

BUT! This guy is going to blast a fast-ball right past the batter. Unless the batter is looking for a fast-ball to be thrown. Oh, the strategy that's going on!

I played catcher (when I was MUCH younger) and those fast-ball pitches not only "pop" in the  mitt, they HURT. I stopped playing that position in a hurry and whined until the coach replaced me with a kid that was more dumb that I.

Nothing special here. I was in a baseball frame of mind during the leagues playoff games. So I made some baseball paintings. This is probably a college ball game because I put the team logo on the players' jerseys.

No names, right? The ball player sliding into second base is totally O_U_T!  Another idea for a painting from a photo with many other elements that I chose to omit.

Batter hitting ball - 9x12 - MP

The batter isn't actually HITTING the ball, but in the blink of an eye he'll blast it out of the stadium. No team name - I don't want to get in trouble with Major League Baseball. This guy is a fragment of my imagination.

Last multi-photo post - probably maybe?

I'm posting 11 (eleven) photos of my paintings today - sorry. I hope to resume posting one or two at a time from now on.

If you have a PC you can see the photos of the paintings more clearly if you right-click on the photo then choose view in a new window. I dislike the "new" blog method of the slideshow as I can't see the details as we could "before".

I have the greatest respect and admiration for the people that will put their bodies on a skateboard. And to see the "tricks" that most do is sometimes beyond belief!

The "canvas paper" that I used is advertised as gessoed canvas sheets in a tablet form. I had to tape the sheets to a large piece of masonite to hold the sheet in place while I painted.

A "study" for a larger painting.

This young lady with an attitude might (probably) embarrass a "studly" male baseball player.

Hey Battah Battah - SWING
12 x 16  Oils on canvas panel
The title is a taunt (chatter?) that the opposing team calls out when a batter is in the batters box. Especially if the batter has a tendency to swing on command. :-)

Some More "New" Paintings

Here are eight more "new" paintings that I've done "lately".  NEW and LATELY are relative terms. Sometimes I can knock out a "small" (9 x 12 inches) painting before noon; other times I might work on it an hour or so then do something else then another hour on the painting. Blah blah blah. Anyhowwwww, the colors in these photos is "close" to the actual colors in the paintings. @#$%^& camera!

More postings to come.

There are more baseball paintings in my head.

Bottle Tree 1 - 18 x 20
 Oils on gessoed panel.
A bottle tree is supposed to capture evil spirits. When the spirits are in the bottle we're supposed to cap the bottle then throw it away. We have a few green bottles just in case we have green evil spirits. These bottles came from our recycle center.
There's one more bottle tree to paint!

Carpenter and his pencil - 8 x 10
Oils on a piece of scrap construction plywood.
The paint "soaked" into the gesso giving this painting a mottled look.
I'll confess. I'll paint on almost anything that doesn't move out of the way!

Giggling Children - 8 x 10
Oils on gessoed panel.
The face of the little girl (pink hat) looks a bit grotesque. I have some work to do?

Dancer in Red - 12 x 16
Oils on gessoed panel
Making the photo of this painting was extremely difficult because of the glare from any light. The colors are close, but the dress is VERY red!

Eagle 1 - 11 x 14
Oils on gessoed panel

Eagle 2 - 11 x 14
Oils on gessoed panel
All of a sudden I felt the urge to paint an eagle(s). I have more paintings on the drawing board. I've already done little "tweety" birds. Now a SERIOUS bird of prey! These colors are almost the same as the painting but not quite.
