Hex Nuts 9x12 Oil on canvas panel
I did this today in a few hours just because I felt like doing it. I saw a picture while surfing public domain photographs for cherry blossoms. Why a photo of a hex-nut was shown amongst the cherry blossom photos is . . . . . . . .
I used Gamblin's Silver "metals" oil paint mixed with white & Gamblin's Portland Grays (light, medium and deep) for highlights. It looks really "different" when the light hits it just right and the silver shines. It doesn't photograph well, but the silver sheen is there. I made the canvas panel - covering a 9x12 piece of Masonite with 100% cotton duck canvas.
Cherry blossoms. I like when our intentions are directed by feeling, not by brains. Very masculine.
ReplyDeleteHello Irina! You're busy with the blogging today, aren't you? The Cherry Blossom project is for my youngest daughter, Kelly. She would like something "happy" for her bedroom. And I'd like to do it for her. I think! :-) I'm looking at a large quantity of light pink, aren't I?

I overlooked this painting yesterday... there's something very attractive to it... I like it very much! It feels fun and relaxed. And the color combination is awsome!
ReplyDeleteWarm regards,
Carolina
Well, Carolina, after doing "proper" paintings I decided to do a "fun" painting. Last Christmas Melissa gave me a 3 tubes of Gamblin metal paints - copper, gold and silver. They're different and (to me) obvious when I use them. BUT silver worked well for this painting! I used the gold & copper in the Couples On A Park Path painting. And the RR Crossing... painting. Very small amounts, to be sure but it looks good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Facebook invite. I think that I accepted your invitation - I'm never quite sure about what I'm doing in facebook. Too many people wanting to be my "friend" that I don't recognize or know. :-) My age is showing, isn't it? :-)

ReplyDeleteSee you around :)
Carolina
Hi Carolina. You have to admit that your Blog photo-id is MUCH smaller than your FB photo! And, your waist has changed since the Blog photo? :-)
ReplyDeleteNO, I didn't recognize you - silly girl!
