Cherry Blossoms - beginning - 36x36 A work in progress

Cherry Blossoms - beginning - 36x36  Oils on canvas

 WORK IN PROGRESS - Day 1 -  3/31/2010

I've roughed in the areas of sky or leafy background behind the upper part of the cherry tree.  I've also begun the little creek or lake at the bottom.

It's going faster than I thought that it would. I've only done one painting as large as this. I finally remembered that I would do better (maybe) with bigger brushes than the ones I was using.  DUH!

Tomorrow I'll continue making the cherry tree limbs.

WORK IN PROGRESS - Day 2 - 4/05/2010

Well, it today wasn't "tommorow" as I said it would be. I built fifteen (15) picture frames during the days in between the fist post and this post .  (Cut, glued, nailed, sanded and painted those frames.)

TODAY I "grew" more limbs, branches, blossoms and etc.  I ahve also been fiddling with the area beyond the shore line of the lake and am feeling better about that part.

The blossoms seem to be going well. Sure is a LOT of pinnnnnnnkkkkkkk!  :-)

The grass at the very bottom needs some fertilizer - or something! Maybe some varying grasses heights and colors?

Almost done, though!

  2. Hello Carolina! I hope that the "suspense music" isn't the music from the movies "JAWS"! I didn't paint at all today - I did garden chores preparing it for our "crops". :-) We'll plant some bell and other peppers, tomatoes, onions and etc. But we need to wait until the danger of a frost has passed.

I also cut some wood to make picture frames. I have several paintings that I want to enter in the shows and I "need" to frame them. :-| ?

Maybe I'll be able to paint tomorrow.

  4. Hi Liz - real happy that you stopped by! I'm entering paintings in 2 shows this month and am making frames for them. The only painting I've been doing it seems is painting picture frames! :-) I've promised myself that I'll work on the cherry tree today, though.

  5. That's a very nice amount of pink if you ask me :) I like the different shades of pink on the blossoms, and the water that is looking lighter now, nice touch. Also the path on the other side of the lake, where does it get???
When are you opening your picture frames shop??? Are you going on-line ;)
    Warm regards,
    Carolina

  6. Hello Carolina! You're quite the comedian, aren't you? :-) I would starve if I had to make my living making picture frames. And I'm as on-line as I'm going to be! :-)

I'm very happy with my Cherry Blossom painting - the painting "wraps" onto the sides, top and bottom. Because the painting is 3 feet (91.44 cm) square, I do a lot of sitting and standing as I paint. Good exercise!

    See you later
