Art Shows Dilemma

I belong to two art "clubs" in the area (NW Arkansas) and both are having a judged art show about the same time. :-)

Show "A" allows 3 submission.. Up to 2 of the 3 might be chosen to be displayed in the show for judging and one possible award. I have to choose 3 paintings to submit for show "A".

Show "B" allows from 1 - 5 entries per artist. All entries will be displayed and judged for awards. I have to choose 5 paintings to submit for show "B"

After much agonizing and going back and forth I've made a "list" of 10 that I'll be choosing from - see the images below.

Please take a look at the ten paintings then tell me which 3 for show "A" and which 5 for show "B" - any painting can't be in both shows!   :-(

#3 - Last Bus to Zurich

#4 - Flamenco Dancer with Red Fan

#7 - Lady With Yellow Scarf

#8 - Harvest Time - Gleaner #1

#9 - After The Ice Storm

Which three (3) would you choose to be in the juried (to be entered) show?

Which five (5) would you choose to be in the other art show?

Leave a comment with your "votes"!  Thanks for looking.  :-)

  1. A-ha-ha! Looks like we are commenting in the same time.
I need more info before I give my advice. Where the shows will be held? which means which age, interest, gender will be visiting each of two shows?
    My personal favs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, and #8 (I would call it "Self portrait":-)))

  2. Thanks Irina. Both shows will be attended by more adults (probably couples) than young people - children And both are local small cities 30,000 - 50,000 people. Most people are well educated. Not necessarily willing to write a check for art, though! :-)

    Thanks for your feedback.

  3. Hi Ken,
My favorites are 4, 7 and 10, and I think it's because I really like close-ups. Even on landscapes... So I guess your question is a little difficult to answer in an unbiased way, my friend. Anyway: I'd send those three together to one contest, and 1, 2, 5, 8 and 9 to the other.
    Best of luck :)

  4. Thank you, Carolina. Those choices pretty much confirm Irina's choices and mine. Thanks! Other pairs of eyes with no prejudices help me very much.

Thanks. I hope that you're sketching when you have a chance. I enjoy seeing what you & Irina are doing. You both motivate me!

  5. My choice:
    1st show - ## 1, 3, 7.
    2nd show - ## 2, 4, 9, 10 and 6 or 8.
I would like we have same activity here in Moscow. You will have opportunity to meet many new people with same interest in arts. Please take you camera and place the review of the show here.
    Good luck!

  6. Hello again, Irina! Thank you for the extra input. Good idea about taking the camera. I'm expecting that there will be many at both shows, but I'll get some photos posted, for certain.

  7. Whatever happens, number 1 is my choice for a juried show. This is a winner!

  8. Hi Liz - I'll tell the judge(s) what you said. I'm sure that they'll do as you say. :-) Thanks for your opinion; it helps. It really does.

    Talk to you later . . .

  10. Hey Kelly! The paintings number 2 and number 4 are right up there as my favorites as well! They're large (20x30) as is the Farmer Reading His Newspaper (number 6). I was doing small (9x12 & 8x10) and struggling when I decided to go LARGE. I've been doing 12x16 lately & that seem to be a good in-between size.

I'll be working on the "sketch" of your painting this week.

    Love you, Dad
