Uncle Jemal 12x16 Oils on canvas panel
"Uncle Jenal's" name is Jemal Kasradze a gifted photographer living in Tbilisi, Georgia, a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Mr Jemal;s blog is one where I can spend hours looking at his photographs. Beautiful.
The photo for my painting is taken from his blog ID photo. His niece, Irina, is one of my good blogger frineds.
As usual lately, I need to put this painting down and get back to it later.
It is amazing how you caught the kindness and at the same time irony and humour in his eyes. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteHi there Ken, I've missed a few posts I see!! Love Anuka - such a soft gentle look about her and your Artist in Venice. But this has great things going for it! I think, like me, portraits are your genre! The eyes are terrific. And not to be outdone, you also got a Sunshine Award from me!
ReplyDeleteHi Irina. I hope that Uncle Jemal doesn't mind TOO much that a) I call him "Uncle" and b) that I made a painting of h im from his blog bio photo. :-) I really enjoy looking at his (and your) blogs of Moscow and Tblisi.
ReplyDeleteSpring is coming soon and I'll be warm again, complaining about how warm it is!

Hi Liz! I try very hard to do paintings with people, either as the subject or as "interest" in a cityscape or landscape. I struggle mightily with eyes, noses and their mouths, though. A local artist is having a series of "portrait" classes in April that aren't too expensive. I'll sign up and see what (IF?) I can learn. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you too, for the Sunshine Award! I read your post but didn't understand that you meant ALL of your followers! Congratulation on 137 or 138 or whatever the number is/was. It increases every time I visit! I have 17 and holding.

Hi Ken
ReplyDeleteYou put a nice smile and a very sweet expression on him. It's a great portrait :)
Best regards,
Carolina
Hi Carolina. Uncle Jemal looks like a person I would like to spend time with. He lives in Tblisi, Georgia so I doubt that I'll ever have the chance to meet him personally. But I sure do enjoy his photography works! :-)
