Pennsylvania Farm #2

Pennsylvania Farm #2 12x30 Oil on Masonite

This is a larger painting suggested by the Week 35-36 Challenge on Different Strokes From Different Folks (DSFDF). The painting that I submitted was posted earlier. Karen Jurick posts a photo on her DSFDF blog and "challenges" artists to make their art based on this photo.

I saw this photo as almost an abstract and tried to render it as such - ALMOST an abstract. The buildings and silos in the foreground have some shading but the fields have no detail.

  1. Love the patchwork you choose to do for DSFDF

  2. Thank you, Dominique. I didn't post this to the DSFDF blog, but I sure WISH that I had! The one that I DID submit was small and quickly done - relatively speaking.

    Regards,

  3. Hi Ken!
Yes, this is almost a geometrical abstract (I see the 'patchwork' pattern Dominique mentions). It is very different from your first version, this one has a more 'modern' effect, interesting...

  4. Hi Carolina. I saw the horizontal rectangles in the fields & vertical rectangles in the silos and thought that this was an abstract waiting to be done. Unfortunately, I couldn't seem to resist shading the silos!

    Talk to you later,
    Ken B.

  5. It would be fun to see it fully abstracted, too. I really like this version with the flat blocks of color.

  6. I don't do abstracts on purpose although sometimes it appears that I do :-) But this one with the horizontal and vertical lines . . . .

    See you later
