Boats in a foggy marina

$100.00 plus shipping
Boats in a foggy marina  12x16  Oils on masonite

This painting is taken from several reference photos. I'm not completely happy with this one - yet but for now I'll "let 'er be".

With some advice from Liz (Art With Liz) I added dark in the water under the boat. Looks some better - B U T . . . .   Thanks, Liz.

  1. I should have said these 4 paintings - missed this one and I don't know why you're not happy with it - I really like it!

  2. Hi Liz - thank you! 3, 4, who's counting? :-)

I think that the boat appears to be "floating" in air. I need to sit it down but not sure what I want to do to accomplish that! ha ha ha ha!

  3. Hi Ken,
I've been checking all the new paintings you posted. This one is my favorite. It somehow surprises me because I'm a big fan of close-ups (I should have favorited the one with the man sitting on the floor, for instance) but this one simply caught me! I love it!
    Un gran abrazo,
    Carolina

  4. Just a hint I remember from my art teacher - darken the water next to the boat and see what happens!

  5. Hi Liz. Thank you for the hint about darkening the water! (I continue to have problems with darks, don't I?) :-) I have done the darkening of the water and will post a photo soon.

  6. Carolina, thank you for the hug! A hug from a friend is always welcome. :-) Here's a gran abrazo for you.

I don't know what possessed me to do a boat scene, but with the hint from Liz I think that I will like this one now. :-)

  7. Hi Ken, I loved the soft sublime effect you have got that slides in to the distance in this one. also the dimension you got with that path leading up the trees. very well done!

  8. Padmaja, thank you for your very nice "critique". :-) I appreciate hearing if I did something right as well as hearing that I did something wrong!
