Bowl of Fruit with Copper Pot

Bowl of Fruit with Copper Pot   20x24  Oil on canvas panel

This was the subject of my posting a "work in progress" for a few days. I'm calling this one DONE!

Many, many thanks to my blogger friend "Carolina" for her critiques, advice,  support and most of all her honest observations. Her input has helped me with several projects and I consider her my best friend in blogger-land.  Check out her blog at http://loquemegustaaquiyahora.blogspot.com/.

  1. Hi Ken. You've really caught the glow on the fruit in that rather gorgeous bowl. This has turned into a rather super painting. And I really love the railway crossing.

I must admit (and I hope you don't get offended) but I feel that you're still a wee bit timid of those darks on your objects. This bowl of fruit is the exception, but your tall white jug would look totally amazing with deepening the darks! Keep practising that photography!

  2. Ken! Thank you so much for your sweet words. Your input has made my day so many many times you wouldn't believe it! I am so proud for being your friend :)
    Best regards,
    Carolina

  3. Hi Liz! It takes a BUNCH to offend me and thank you for speaking (writing?) out. I know that my darks & lights are almost the same and I do TRY VERY HARD to make darker darks. (only an artist might understand that last statement)

    Thanks for "dropping in"

  4. Oh, Carolina. You've been such a help to me and now Liz (Art with Liz) has joined in. I might make improvements more rapidly with two great coaches such as you & Liz.

I was at the grocery store today and saw some onions from Peru! I got really excited and happy. Until I explained myself, Melissa thought that I had lost what is left of my mind! There isn't much left, I tell you. :-)

    Later,

  5. Hi, Ken. I haven't been by for a while...shame on me. You've been busy. This is a very nice piece, and I really like the crossroads painting...the colors are bright and cheerful, and the whole painting just goes together nicely. Have a great new year, and drop by sometime..coffee's on.

  6. Hellooooo James! Shame on us both, I guess! :-) I look at what you're doing but don't "comment" cuz others have commented abundantly already. Poor excuse, I know but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Thank you for your compliment. I'm finding that there is much to inspire me around my own home patch. e.g. "The RR Crossing" painting. I just need to get out and do it.

PS Coffe sounds great right now. Same here, there's usually coffee in the pot. Almost drinkable when it's fresh! :-)
